Dress Up Games Can Get Kids Excited to Come See the Dentist

Dress Up Games Can Get Kids Excited to Come See the DentistThere are very few children who shy away from a good game of dress up. If your child enjoys the game, you may want to consider making it into a game you play about coming in for dental checkups. We know that kids get nervous about coming to see us now and again. Even grownups get nervous about dental appointments sometimes. If we can make the entire prospect of coming in for a checkup into a fun adventure, your child is far less likely to be nervous when you come in for their next visit.

How Dress Up Can Make Seeing Us More Fun

How you play dress up with your child depends on how your child feels about coming to see us. If they are unsure about what is going to happen, then you should pretend to be the dentist and show them on their teeth how we take a light and look around. Use a flashlight, and maybe a popsicle stick to open their lips and take a good look. If they are nervous, use a toy that has a mouth you can look at.
If your child has a good grasp of what is going to happen, but still shows signs of being nervous, let them be the dentist and you be the patient. This could give you a little insight as to what they are thinking is going to happen that is making them so nervous. Talk with them on their level and show them that coming in is a fun, helpful experience.
When kids get nervous to come see us, let us know. Not only can we talk with them more during their appointments, but we can also give you tips to help teach them there is nothing to be nervous about. Call us today to find out more.
My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
